Legal

Terms of Service

Last updated: 23 May 2026

1. About these terms

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the Unveil website and gift experience service (together, the “Service”). They form a legally binding contract between you and the company named in section 3.

By creating an account or completing a payment you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

These Terms apply to gift creators (people who purchase and build a gift experience). Recipients who open a gift link are not our customers and these Terms do not apply to them directly — see section 11.

2. About Unveil

Unveil is a web application that lets gift creators build personalised, animated digital gift reveal experiences. A creator uploads content (images, video, text), sets an unlock date and time, and receives a unique URL to share with their recipient. The recipient opens the URL after the unlock time to experience a countdown, scratch-reveal, and message — all in their browser.

The Service is provided as described on the Unveil marketing website at the time of your purchase. We do not guarantee that any specific feature will remain available indefinitely.

3. Who we are

Unveil is operated by [TODO: Legal entity name], a company registered in England and Wales (registration number [TODO: company number]), whose registered office is at [TODO: Registered address].

You can contact us about these Terms at [TODO: hello@unveilonline.com — confirm once email is set up].

4. Eligibility and your account

You must be at least 18 years old to use the Service. By using the Service you confirm that you are 18 or over.

The Service is currently available to buyers in the United Kingdom only. We do not accept orders from outside the UK at this time.

You sign in using a magic link sent to your email address — there is no password. You are responsible for keeping your inbox secure and for any activity that occurs under your account. Please contact us immediately if you believe your account has been compromised.

One account per person. You may not create accounts on behalf of others or transfer your account to another person.

5. The service

When you complete payment, we:

  • Generate a permanent, unique URL (slug) for your gift;
  • Send a confirmation email to you;
  • Optionally send a notification email to your recipient (if you provided their address);
  • Host your uploaded content until the gift is deleted or your account is closed.

The gift experience is available to the recipient from the unlock date and time you set. We do not control whether or when the recipient opens the link.

We make no guarantee about uptime, response times, or the continued availability of any particular feature. The Service is provided “as is” — see section 12.

6. Pricing, payment, and VAT

Each gift experience costs £3.99, payable in British pounds sterling via Stripe. Payment is taken in full at the time of purchase.

[TODO: VAT treatment — e.g. “All prices include VAT where applicable. Unveil is currently not VAT-registered.” Confirm before launch.]

We may change the price of future purchases at any time. Price changes will not affect gifts you have already paid for.

Payment processing is handled by Stripe. We do not store your card details.

7. Your right to cancel and refunds

Under the UK Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 you normally have a 14-day right to cancel a distance contract for digital content or services.

By clicking “Pay with Stripe” you expressly request that we begin performing the contract immediately — your gift is created, your slug is generated, and confirmation emails are sent at the moment payment completes. You acknowledge that, by consenting to this immediate performance, you lose your 14-day right to cancel once the service has been fully performed.

Accordingly, we do not offer refunds once payment is complete, except where we have failed to deliver the Service due to a serious technical fault on our side. In that case we will either fix the problem or issue a full refund at our discretion.

[TODO: confirm exact wording of the technical-fault refund exception with solicitor]

Nothing in these Terms affects your statutory rights.

8. Creator content rules

You are solely responsible for all content you upload or enter when building a gift experience (images, video, text, recipient details). By submitting content you confirm that:

  • You own it or hold all necessary licences, rights, and permissions to use it and to grant us the licence in section 9;
  • It does not infringe any third party's intellectual property rights, privacy rights, or other rights;
  • It is not illegal, threatening, abusive, harassing, defamatory, obscene, or sexually explicit;
  • It does not contain malware, viruses, or any code designed to disrupt or damage systems;
  • It does not include personal data of third parties without their knowledge and consent.

We may remove any content and suspend or terminate your account without notice or refund if we determine, in our sole discretion, that these rules have been breached.

9. Licence you grant us

By uploading content to Unveil you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to host, store, transcode, and deliver that content solely to the extent necessary to operate the gift experience you have purchased.

We do not claim ownership of your content. This licence ends when the gift is deleted or your account is closed, subject to any backup or retention windows described in our Privacy Policy.

10. Our intellectual property

The Unveil name, logo, website design, code, and the gift experience interface are our intellectual property or that of our licensors. Nothing in these Terms transfers any ownership in them to you.

You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or lease any part of the Service or its underlying software without our prior written permission.

11. Recipients

Recipients (people who open a gift link) are not our customers. We have no contract with them and these Terms do not apply to them.

You, as the gift creator, are responsible for the content of your gift experience and for ensuring it is appropriate for the recipient. We provide the delivery surface only.

We may suspend or disable a gift link if we receive a credible report that the content breaches section 8 or applicable law.

12. Service availability

We will make reasonable efforts to keep the Service available, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted, error-free operation. We may perform maintenance that temporarily interrupts access and will endeavour to give reasonable advance notice where possible.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Service is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose or non-infringement. This does not affect any rights you have as a consumer under UK law that cannot be excluded.

13. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability to you for any claims arising from or related to these Terms or the Service is capped at the fees you paid us in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim (or £3.99 if you have purchased only one gift). [TODO: confirm liability cap with solicitor]

We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive loss, including loss of profits, loss of data, or business interruption, even if we were advised of the possibility of such loss.

Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other matter that cannot be excluded or limited by English law.

14. Your indemnity to us

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Unveil and its officers, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from: (a) your use of the Service; (b) your content; or (c) your breach of these Terms.

15. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or terminate your account and access to the Service at any time if we reasonably believe you have breached these Terms, with or without notice, and without liability to you. Termination for breach does not entitle you to a refund.

You may close your account at any time by contacting us at [TODO: hello@unveilonline.com — confirm; also note whether self-serve deletion will be available].

16. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. For material changes, we will notify you by email to the address associated with your account.

Your continued use of the Service after the effective date of updated Terms constitutes your acceptance of them. Gifts you have already paid for are governed by the Terms that were in force when you completed payment.

17. Governing law and jurisdiction

These Terms and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with them (including non-contractual disputes or claims) are governed by and construed in accordance with the law of England and Wales.

The courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction to settle any dispute arising from these Terms, subject to your rights to bring proceedings in the courts of the country in which you are resident if required by applicable law.
